Recently, I watched the 2004 remake of the Manchurian Candidate with my 12 year old son. After that, we dusted off and viewed the 1962 version for comparison. The 1962 film centers on foreign communist plotters who try to install a double-agent brainwashed puppet in the Oval Office. In the 2004 remake, a Halliburton-like multi-national corporation is behind the plot. I began pondering the policy initiatives of a double-agent president. Clearly, his objectives would be: - long-term economic harm to the United States - disrupt American military power - loss of American prestige in the world - increase world hatred and distrust of the United States

At that time he said he was sending the machine\'s memory cards to the federal Independent Testing Authority (ITA) Lab for reinspection in light of the news out of Leon County, Florida that the cards used "intepreted code" which is specifically banned by the Help America Vote Act (HAVA). A "hack test" in that county revealed that an entir!\n ely election could have its results flipped by a hacker exploiting that "interpreted code" -- without a trace being left behind. Bush toured a Johnson Controls Inc. battery development center and looked at two hybrid SUVs before speaking at a company headquarters in Milwaukee.

Bush said he envisioned a future in which a plug-in hybrid car could drive 40 miles on a lithium-ion battery, then stop at a filling station for ethanol, a fuel usually made from corn. The trip wouldn't require a drop of oil, he said.

In his State of the Union address last month, Bush said the United States must break an addiction to Middle East oil. He has called for improving alternative-fuel technology to reduce U.S. oil imports from the region by 75 percent by 2025.
