Wilkerson's anti-Bush attack--Colin's pay-backtime?

From: 2006 Elections Table
On Wednesday, Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, Colin Powell's ex-Chief of Staff when Secretary of State, called Cheney and Rumself a "cabal" that had hijacked US foreign policy, with sycophant Condoleeza Rice along for the ride. He accused the administration of gutting the State Department, sowing dissension among allies and recklessly weakening the US militarily and strategically.
The timing of this broadside seems quite important, given that Wilkerson, a soldier/scholar who resigned with Powell, would not at first glance be someone you would think would simply step up out of the blue to rant against the administration.
My thinking is that Powell, through his surrogate, is sending a warning shot across the bow of the Bush administration, particularly Cheney and Rumsfeld, making it clear that if things go very badly for them that he is prepared to tell all to ensure their departure.

Watch the clip. (4.00 / 1) (#4)

Yes, read the whole transcript, as Artappraiser says.
But even more, watch the clip. Watch the whole clip. The Q& A at the end is at least as devastating as the speech. I suspect that you haven't read or seen the whole thing.
Or maybe I am terribly naive, but this looks like a guy sincerely raising what he thinks is a serious, deeply important issue. By opening with this remark,
Although I was 7 to 15, roughly, during his tenure as president, I sometimes find myself longing for ... President Eisenhower’s...approach to the 1947 National Security Act. In other words, he thought it was a piece of legislation that was passed by the Congress of the United States, the people’s representative, and he damn well ought to follow it, and did so probably to an extent that few presidents, if any, have since.
.../...
======== His central point is well-placed, though. But who's gonna bell the cat? I mean, there's speculation here that Bush might just pardon everybody in the Plame investigation, and say "What are you gonna do about it."
